Dr. Rex F. Miller, DMD
Rex Miller was born the third of three children to the Miller Family of Hillsboro. Rex’s father, Douglas, was a chiropractor and his mother, Bonnie, a realtor and homemaker.
Rex remembers his family life in those early days of his youth: hardworking days at Hillsboro schools, elementary, junior high, and high school; leisurely weekends at the family cabin on Devils Lake in Lincoln City where he learned to swim, water ski, and above all, fish. Rex, a fly-fishing expert, knows the hidden rivers of Montana and has often practiced his favorite past-time on the “River That Runs Through It” in Missoula.
Rex not only attended Hillsboro public schools, but he went on for an additional eight years earning a B.S. in microbiology at OSU and a D.M.D. at OHSU Dental School. Rex continues to study by taking advanced courses in his profession.
After graduation, his first position was with a firm known as “Gentle Dental” where he learned much about “gentle” dentistry. In 1993, he bought a dental practice here in Jacksonville and declared Jacksonville to be his new home.
Rex is married to Karen Porschet and they have one child.
When he is not busy with an active dental practice, Rex continues to enjoy family, hiking, backpacking, fly fishing, travel, good friends and good wine. His hobbies include fly tying, gardening, and attending to his home in Jacksonville.
He is also very involved in civic and community activities: he is past president of the Southern Oregon Dental Society, a member of the Jacksonville Woodlands Association, and Rotary.
